About AHAUCHI

There are approximately 40,000 students living in Colleges or Halls of Residence which are owned or affiliated with Australian Universities. These Colleges and Halls of Residence are managed by Heads of the College or Hall, who are generally members of the Association of Heads of Australian University Colleges and Halls Incorporated (AHAUCHI) the purpose of which is to advance, enhance and promote collegiate residence in Australian Universities.

The objectives of AHAUCHI are to:

  • promote the benefits of collegiate residence in Australian universities;
  • promote residence as a means to a broad education, including academic, social, cultural and moral development;
  • enhance the quality of life and welfare of residents in Australian university residential colleges and halls;
  • promote the Association as the responsible advisory body on matters relating to the purpose and functioning of university residential colleges and halls;
  • recommend fair and equitable conditions of employment for members of the Association foster the continuing professional development of the Association's members and their staff;
  • to promote the mutual support of members of the Association;
  • to do such other things as may be required to support the achievement of the forgoing objectives.
