Professional Development for College Resident Assistants - Research Grant
University Colleges Australia is seeking an Expression of Interest to conduct research on the training and /or professional development of Resident Assistants (RAs) and Senior Residents (SRs) attending colleges and halls of residence in Australia.
Background:
Most colleges and halls of residence offer professional development and training to its RAs and SRs especially in their pastoral role of residents living on-site. However, what is not known is the nature and extent of that training, how it is conducted, when, by whom, how often and what if any qualifications or certification is received for that training. Typical examples of elements of training include: first aid training; emergency procedures; health and wellbeing of residents.
Research:
The UCA Executive is seeking to fund this research and requires a two page research proposal to gather and analyse data from a broad range of colleges and halls via a survey and/or focus group process. A budget for the conduct of the research must be included.
The outcome will be a report with a research instrument e.g. survey that can be utilised in the future.
Timeline:
It is envisaged that the research will be conducted over a six month period and will be completed by September 2012 so that the findings/report can be presented at the UCA Conference in Canberra.
